Obituary

Eleanor V. (Hasenfus) Anthonsen a lifelong Needham resident died on Wednesday October 8 at her home after a long illness. She was 74 years old. An avid bowler and golfer and longtime member of the Needham Golf Club, Eleanor shot two holes in one. The first hole in one was on the 6th Hole of Lost Brook Golf Course in Norwood on October 31, 1986 and the second hole in one was on the 7th hole of the Needham Golf Club on May 31, 1996. The beloved wife of Edward H. Anthonsen she was the devoted mother of Barbara Anthonsen-Cowen and her husband Lance of East Boston, Susan Dukeman and her husband Bill of Milford and Margaret Hogan and her husband Bobby of Watertown. The cherished grandmother Michele and Will Dukeman and Shannon Hogan, she was the dear sister of Katherine Fitzpatrick and Marion Doherty of Wellesley, Charles and John H. Hasenfus of Needham and the late Margaret Hamilton, George Hasenfus Jr., Bertha Drew and Robert Hasenfus. A Funeral service will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Friday October 10. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street Framingham MA 01701.
