Obituary

GRACE E. (CONNOR) WIGMORE, of Rockland, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81. Mrs. Wigmore was born in Weymouth, the only child of George and Grace (Burke) Connor and was a Hingham resident for 30 years before moving to Rockland 10 years ago, where she loved being close to her great grandchildren, whose company she enjoyed daily. She survived polio as a teen and was featured in a 1950 Boston Globe article regarding her illness. Her strong will and strength of character was evident throughout her life, and she had many friends and family who often spoke with her for advice and comforting words. She loved and lived for her family and for many years was an active communicant of the Church of the Resurrection in Hingham and St. Agnes Church in Reading. She loved the many summers that she and her family spent at Popponesset on Cape Cod and playing cards with family and friends. She was a caring wife and mother who devoted her time to raising her children, and later in life worked for Sun Life of Canada, where she quickly gained responsibility due to her leadership abilities.
Devoted wife of the late Robert L. Wigmore for over 49 years, she was the mother of Robert L. Wigmore, Jr. and his wife Lois of Scituate, Betsey W. Epstein of Hingham, Stephen P. Wigmore of Quincy and Susan J. Ulmschneider of Rockland. Grandmother of Laura Leander of Rockland, Dan Ulmschneider of Medford, Kelly Mastroianni of Norfolk, Stephen Wigmore, Jr. of Quincy, Brittany Lynn Wigmore of London, UK, Stacy McCoy of Los Angeles, CA, Julie Epstein of Hingham and Lawren Wigmore of Scituate.
