WESTERLY, RI - Katherine Ann "Kay" Fitzgerald, 72, of Westerly, RI and formerly of Worcester died Thursday, March 4th surrounded by her loved ones.
She leaves her children, Katherine Parella of Worcester, Michael Parella of Natick, Elizabeth Metcalf and her husband, Douglas of Westerly, RI, David Parella of Westerly, RI and Diane Gaudette and her husband Randall of Northboro; two sisters, Veronica Albergo and her husband, Vito of Long Island, NY and Marie Fitzgerald of Melbourne, FL; ten grandchildren and three nephews. A son, Mark Parella predeceased her.
Kay was born in Manhattan, New York the daughter of John and Marie (Connors) Fitzgerald and graduated from Hicksville High School in Long Island, NY. In addition to raising six children, Kay worked at Clark University for 12 years, retiring in 2000.
Kay collected art deco and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, doing puzzles and looking through her bird calls book with them. She loved taking walks on the beach and searching for colorful sea glass.
Funeral services and burial are private. There are no calling hours. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA is directing arrangements.
