Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Rachel M. (Robinson) Tucker, 86, of 10 Dale Avenue died early Thursday morning, March 4, 2010 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was the wife of Arthur C. Tucker.
Born in Gloucester on August 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Melvin D. and Helen (Knipe) Robinson. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester public schools.
Rachel was employed as a fish packer for many years at the former Empire Fish Company.
In earlier years, she was an avid knitter and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She and Arthur took pleasure in traveling and had taken an Alaskan cruise and often took trips to New Hampshire. She also enjoyed gardening, having cultivated iris gardens at the family home on Sumner Street.
In addition to her husband of twenty-six years, she is survived by two daughters, Patricia, wife of George Rioux of Salisbury and Lucille Costa of Gloucester, four grandchildren, Babette, wife of Jerry McCarthy, Brenda Pechilis, Pamela, wife of John McCarthy and Timothy, husband of Susan Costa; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole Pechilis, Erica Vitale, Christian Pechilis, Megan McCarthy, Brianna McCarthy, Steven and Eric Stout, Cole Patrick and Brooke Alessandra Costa; one sister, Helen Doucette and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Milton C. Stone, Jr., a granddaughter, Wendy Stone, three sisters, Mary Blatchford, Florence Dagley and Dorothy Burke, two brothers, James and Frank Robinson and her first husband, Milton C. Stone.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery.
