Hubert "Murdock" Vickers, 84, of Tifton died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Terrell Roberts and Rev. Brantley Seymour will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Vickers was born on January 11, 1926 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama and was the son of E. Bulus Vickers and Mary Flossie Fuller Vickers, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, S. J. Vickers, Basil Vickers, Henry Vickers and Erma Vickers; and two sisters, Willie Mae Sumner and Myrteel Dunaway. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Vickers is survived by two brothers, Victor V. Vickers of Tifton and James L. Vickers of Tifton; three sisters, Pat Tucker of Tifton, Resa Green of Tifton and Betty Hall of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
