Annie G. Young, 70, of Tewksbury…Devoted Mother and Grandmother…

TEWKSBURY; Annie G. (Flagg) Young, age 69, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, died Monday evening October 6, 2003 at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell. She was the widow of Leonard H. Young who died March 13, 1997.

Born in Waltham on December 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Gladys G. (Flewelling) Flagg.

Mrs. Young was raised in Somerville. She attended Somerville schools, graduating from Somerville High School in 1951.

Mrs. Young worked as a nurses aid and medical records secretary at the Blaire House Nursing Home in Tewksbury from 1980 until 1996. Prior to her retirement in December 2002, she was employed as a school bus monitor for the Merrimack Education Transportation Collaborative.

She was an active 40 year member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury, where she served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher. In addition, she was a member of the Church’s Executive Board, Christian Education Board and Faithful Workers Group.

Mrs. Young was a member and past president of the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post # 8164 Ladies Auxiliary and the Middlesex County District # 15 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former resident of the Merrimack River Valley House in Lowell, where she was a member of the red hat society. She enjoyed crafts and collecting miniature tiger figurines.

She is survived by 1 daughter; Barbara J. Baccheller and her husband Michael of Billerica; 2 sons; Leonard H. Young, Jr. of Lowell and Keith E. Young of Chelmsford and his dear friend Barbara Jagla; 6 grandchildren; Heather Hussey, Samantha Young, Nicholas Hussey, Kyle and Bryan Young and Alexis Frotton; 1 step granddaughter; Elizabeth Bacheller.

Mrs. Young was the mother of the late William E. Young, grandmother of the late Eric and Mark Hussey and sister of the late Gladys and Kenneline Flagg.

Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover st., Rte. 133, Tewksbury. Burial at Tewksbury Cemetery. At her request please OMIT FLOWERS.
