Mr. Frederick C. Eastman, a lifelong resident of Andover and husband of the late Edith L. (Dunnells) Eastman, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Prescott House in North Andover. He was 88 years old.
Born in Andover, Massachusetts, on August 4, 1921, he was the son of the late Floyd W. and Gertrude M. (Cobb) Eastman.
Fred was an electrical engineer at Westinghouse Electric Service Division for 42 years, working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Boston and Framingham until his retirement. He was a member of the Andover Baptist Church as well as St. Matthew’s Lodge and the Maine Society of Mayflower Descendants. Mr. Eastman was a graduate of Punchard High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He was also a WWII Navy veteran, working in the military as an Electronic Technicians Mate. Fred held an engineers, land surveyors and an amateur radio license.
He will be missed by his daughter and son-in-law; Carol and her husband James Cottrill of Rumford, Maine, two sons and two daughters-in-law; Allen and his wife Phylis Eastman of Methuen and Malcolm and his wife Andrea Eastman of Methuen, six grandchildren; Catherine Scheid, Kristine Boisvert, Kerri Healy, Katy Eastman, Eric Eastman and Daniel Eastman, 10 great-grandchildren; Zackery, Sean and Kayla Healy, Madison Eastman, Kambra Himelrick, Jacob Scheid and Samantha, Victoria, Adam and Amanda Eastman and one sister; Rovena Peckham of Norway, Maine.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 1 PM. Many relatives and friends attended. Burial was private.
