Kenneth E. Erickson, 95, of Marlboro, died Sunday, Feb. 28th at Wingate at Sudbury Nursing Home after a short illness. He was born May 25, 1914 to Vernia (Valley) and Robert Erickson in Worcester, MA. He was predeceased by his two brothers Irving Erickson and his wife Helen of Rhode Island and Robert Erickson and his wife Martha of Auburn. He was the beloved husband of the late Leona J. (Dion) Erickson for 50 years who died in May of 2002.
Kenneth was raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, Hq Company, 3rd bn 162d Infantry Regt. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations as a radio operator. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 he worked as a practical nurse at Bedford Veterans’ Facility and Rutland VA Hospital. He worked as a clerk for many years at the Worcester Post Office until retiring in 1986. After retirement he moved to Marlboro to be close to his grandchildren and daughter. Kenneth was an avid tennis player in his younger years and enjoyed long walks in his 80’s.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Diane V. Stacey and her husband Michael J. Stacey of Hudson; his grandson, Michael K. Stacey of Hudson; his granddaughter, Alison L. Morgan and her husband Joshua A. Morgan who are stationed in South Korea and two great grandchildren, Joshua and Madelyn Morgan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday March 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlboro. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
