Obituary

Mary E. (Heirty) Ahern, 83, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Wesley Woods in Newnan, GA on Sunday, February 28. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Ahern. Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School for Girls. She was a resident of Stoughton for 54 years before moving to Newnan, GA 3 years ago. Mrs. Ahern was a housewife. She taught CCD at St. James Church and was a bookkeeper at Immaculate Conception Church, both in Stoughton. She was a longtime member of the Mass. Catholic Women’s Guild.
Mrs. Ahern is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Rubenzahl and Charles C. Ahern, Jr. and his wife Gina all of Newnan, GA, as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Jardin, Daniel Jardin, Michelle Ahern Mischley, Danielle Ahern Edwards, Brendan Ahern and Megan Ahern. She was the sister of Charles Heirty, Jr. of Stoughton and the late Anna Heirty. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, March 5 from 9-10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Mary’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
