Jacqueline F. "Jackie" (Corkum) Atkinson, a 10 year resident of Wilmington, former 6 year resident of Nalcrest, Florida and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Wilmington Health Care Center in Wilmington following an extended illness. She was 70 years old.
Jackie was born in Stoneham, MA, on December 30, 1939. She grew up in Somerville where she attended Somerville elementary schools, and graduated from Somerville High School. While living in Charlestown, Jackie worked as a receptionist at High Pharmacy on High Street in Charlestown and as a teacher's aide at St.Francis De Sales School in Charlestown.
Jackie is the beloved wife of the late Robert Atkinson. She is the devoted mother of Robert Atkinson of Wilmington, Lawrence Atkinson of Winthrop and Maureen Anderson and her husband John of Wilmington. She is the loving Nanny to Scott, Corey and Hayley Atkinson. She is the beloved sister of Shirley Carr of Medford, Robert Corkum of Saugus and the late Jean Overbeck and Judy Carmody. She is also the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jackie's Funeral on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 1, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.
