Obituary

Susan (Hougasian) Jorjorian, 72, of 23 Lexington Avenue, died Sunday, October 5, in UMass Memorial Hospital after a valiant fight.

She passed on with her family by her side. Her husband of 33 years, Henry Jorjorian, died in 1992. She leaves a son, Mark D. Jorjorian of Lexington; two daughters, Lisa Marie Thomas of Worcester and Linda S. Donoian of Jefferson; 1 granddaughter, Genel Lee Thomas of Worcester; two grandsons, Vahan J. and Zaven H. Donoian--both of Jefferson; and a brother, John Hougasian of Worcester. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Hougasian of Worcester and George Hougasion of Inglewood, CA.

Mrs. Jorjorian was born in Worcester, daughter of Dickran and Haiganoush (Atamian) Hougasian. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Susan was secretary to the Auburn Fire Chief, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Armenian Church of our Saviour, the Women’s Guild of the Church, and the AVAKS. She was an avid backgammon player and loved to play whist and cribbage. Susan loved Auburn and her community and was particularly proud of the Auburn Fire Department. Susan loved her family vacations and was a fabulous Armenian cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock am on Wednesday, October 8, in The Armenian Church of our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery next to her beloved husband. Calling hours at the funeral home will be 5-8pm on Tuesday, October 7.
