Gilda (Raposa) August, age 94 passed away February 24, 2010. Widow of John August and daughter of the late John and Mariana (Pavao Rego) Raposa. Before retiring, Gilda worked as a Sewing Machine Operator for Seal sac Mfg. & previously as a Curtain Folder at the Sagamore Mills. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.
She is survived by 4 children: Robert J. August of Fall River, George W. August of E. Hartford, CT., Carol A. Martin of Fall River and Eileen S. Rego of Assonet; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was sister of the late Manuel Rapozo, John Raposa, Mary Raposa and Elvira “Eva” Furtado.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 8 A.M. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8 P.M.
