Mason-White Funeral Home, Washington - METAMORA…Rachel A. Tobin, 82, formerly of Princeton, passed away at 2:26 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Rachel was born on March 20, 1927 in Colchester to Glen and Regena Williams Walty. She married Paul Tobin on April 12, 1952 in Hennepin. Paul passed away in Metamora on July 25, 2001.
Among those surviving are two daughters, Paula (Daniel) Sights of Washington and Angela Winger of Monmouth; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was also preceded by one sister and an infant brother.
Rachel had been an art teacher for 35 years in the Princeton and Tiskilwa schools. She earned her teaching degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb. Rachel also was a member of the National Education Association and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
A celebration of Rachel’s life will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 6 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Linda Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
