SALEM- Virginia L. (Taylor) Maki, age 77, wife of Johannes J. Maki, of Salem, died Saturday morning, October 4, 2003 at the Salem Hospital after being stricken at her home.
Born in Osterville, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Peach) Taylor. Raised and educated in Osterville, she resided in Marblehead before moving to Salem in 1949.
With a love of art and a lifelong passion for painting, she painted seascapes and still life, painted with water colors as well as with oils, and specialized in scenes of Marblehead and Cape Cod. A member of ARTSalem, her paintings have been displayed in showings at the Topsfield Fair and the Old Town Hall in Salem.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared 54 years of marriege, Mrs. Maki is survived by one son, Steven H. Maki of Boston, two daughters, Gail and her husband Dennis Lockard of Amesbury, Laurie Maki of Salem, five grandchildren, Jacob Maki and Jaime Maki of Salem, Samuel Lockard, Rory Lockard of Amesbury, John Tricomi of Haverhill, one brother, William P. and his wife Barbara Taylor of Marblehead, one sister, Faye Doane of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Karen Lee Maki.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
