Maria R. (Silva) Evora, 91, of New Bedford died February 20, 2010 peacefully at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the wife of the late Manuel C. Evora.
Born in New Bedford, she lived in Cape Verde before returning to New Bedford in 1938.
She was a member of the Cape Verdean Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include 3 sons, Howland "Howie" Evora of Mashpee, James Evora of Boston and Edmund Evora of Las Vegas; 4 daughters, Doris Dottridge of Mashpee, Linda Dias of Scottsdale, AZ, Maria Evora Allen of Deltona, FL and Anna Marie Enyia of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Asia Silva, Cookie Barros and Beverly Silva, all of New Bedford; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John "Johnny" Silva.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, February 27th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, February 26th from 5-8 PM.
