Obituary

Alfred F. Tector, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died suddenly on Monday, February 15, 2010 in Naples, Florida. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Ann (O'Connor) Tector. Born in Jamaica Plain, he was raised in Jamaica Plain. He served 5 years in the U. S. Marines as a Lance Corporal before returning to the Boston area in 1960. Mr. Tector worked as a Journeyman Plumber for over 40 years, most recently for the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. He retired in 2000. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 12. Al was an avid tennis player and he and Ann met many wonderful friends on and off the court during their retirement years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters Annette Tector and her partner Brenda Salyer, of Easthampton, and Maura Perry and her husband Glenn of Stoughton; and a son, Alfred Tector of Las Vegas, NV. He was the brother of Bernadette Kearns and Mary Mead and her husband Ralph, all of North Conway, NH, and the late Anna, John “Jack” Tector, and Ralph “Leo” Tector. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Al's life by gathering for Visiting Hours on Friday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
