TAUNTON - Lucia M. (Santo) Escobar, 68, died unexpectedly at Morton Hospital on Feb. 17, 2010.
She was the loving, dedicated wife of Custodio Escobar of Taunton; the loving mother of Marie F. Raposa and her husband George, and Elder M. Escobar and his companion Caitlin, all of Taunton; the dear loving grandmother of Christopher, Christina, Jasmine, Austin, Bella, Dania, Rob, Michael, and Jayden; and the great grandmother of Lexia Faith.
The daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Correia) Espirito Santo of Portugal, and the devoted sister of Maria Correia of Taunton, Frank Santo of Newport, RI, and Jose Santo of Fremont, CA, she also leaves a brother-in-law, and several sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Born and educated in Portugal, on the island of Faial, Acores, Mrs. Escobar lived in Taunton since 1968.
Her talent and passion was for making clothes.
She was the head seamstress at the New York Lace Store for many years until retiring, and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, Feb. 20th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 19th, from 4 to 7 p.m.
