Obituary

Joseph R. Aparo, age 96, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

Joe was born in New Britain on July 15, 1913 the last of five children to the late Sebastian and Carmela Aparo.

He was proficient in electromagnetic motors, working for Aparo Electric and other motor companies in central Connecticut. During World War II, he worked for the Logistics Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense as a quality control inspector, from which he retired in 1980. In his retirement, he lived in Plainville, Ct and Boyntown Beach, Fl.

Joe will be fondly remembered as an honest, hard working companion to all. He enjoyed sharing sports, including bocce, with his step-son Rocco Marciano, and his younger grandchildren in recent years.

He is also survived by his loving god-daughter, Sr. Josie Aparo of Trenton, NJ; cousin Lucy Aparo of GA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two wives, most recently Mary (Marciano) Aparo of Middlebury, CT, as well as brothers Anthony and Thomas, and sisters, Antoinette and Josephine, and his cousin James Aparo.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 10-11am. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury at 1:30pm.
