Obituary

Roland S. Jestings of Chelsea died February 11, 2010 at home.
Mr. Jestings was born in Augusta, Maine and was a long time resident of Chelsea. He loved his furry and feathered friends. One of his greatest passions was anything to do with the sea….From the time he was a merchant marine and his ship heard the may day call of the Andrea Doria, to the treasure hunting he did with his friend(the late Edward Rowe Snow) or navigating the open seas as a Captain of the yacht for his friend(the great navigator himself the late Charles F. Chapman) he even interviewed the (late Jacques Cousteau). Yes, he even liked building ship models and lovingly refurbished his 27 foot mahogany boat. But most will remember his great sense of humor. A man of many trades, some that may surprise you: He was a Altar boy, Doughnut maker, Painter, T.V./radio repairman, Antique Dealer, Boat Captain, Author where he has been published in Search, Treasure and Readers Digest. But, he was proud of the service in the Merchant Marines and Air Force. A Veteran serving in Korean and World War 2 in which he was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. He was the beloved son of the late Bernard and Mary Ellen (Richards) Jestings; And the last of the 24 siblings. He is the Beloved father of Brenda Vitiello and her husband Joseph of Stoneham,Mass, Cheryl Jestings of Mass, Wayne Jestings and his wife Sarah of Pennsylvania. He is also the Grandparent of Erica Mello, Fendi Marie Libby , Shawn Jestings, Thomas Jestings, Meridith Jestings, Jarad Jestings, Desiree Rivera, Sheree Moran, Joseph D. Vitiello; Great Grandparent of Ariana Moran , Michael Moran , ReAnn Rivera ,DayLee Rivera, Courtney Fischer, Chandler Baldwin, Gavyn Vitiello, Joelle Vitiello; Also survived by 1st Cousin Sylvia Benjamin, former wife Linda Rose, mother in law Eva Overko and countless other family members.

Roland(Dad), You are Gone but not Forgotten……We Love You … God Bless…
