Mr. William O. Orr, 85, of 10 Arlington Street, Berlin, NH passed away on Saturday morning Feb. 13, 2010 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on Feb. 10, 1925 the son of William and Mary (Shrimp) Orr and resided there until he entered the US Navy, where he served during WW2. He married his wife Gloria Johnson in 1952 and then settled in Berlin. Bill loved his many years of employment as a truck driver, mostly for Isaacson Structural Steel, of which his final retirement came at age 83. His interests included hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. One of his greatest enjoyments was hauling the Berlin Kiwanis Club’s Christmas float in parades, bringing Santa Claus to town each year during the holiday season.
Members of the family include his wife of 58 years Gloria (Johnson) Orr of Berlin; 8 daughters Carol Barrett and Brenda Delaney, both of Connecticut, Katherine O’Neill of Gorham, Pauline Haynes and her husband Chip, Cynthia Dooley and her husband Paul, Nancy Hoyt and her husband Mike, all of Berlin, Mary Parson of Connecticut and Linda Shaw and her husband Buzz of South Carolina; a son Robert Uebrick and his wife Joyce of New York; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother in law Melvin Johnson and his wife Trudy of Berlin; nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be held Saturday May 8, 2010 at 1 PM at the Russian City Cemetery. Anyone who wishes may make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his memory. Arrangements are by the Bryant Funeral Homes.
