Ronald Fernandes, age 72 of Fall River, passed away in Boston, February 10, 2010. Born in Taunton, the son of the late John Fernandes and the late Mary Jo (Lopes) Cabral. Before retiring, he was a Textile Executive with the Providence Pile Corp. of Fall River and the President and Owner of Seddon’s Express Trucking of Westport, MA. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran, an enthusiastic golfer and a life-long Red Sox fan.
He is survived by four Sons: Ron Fernandes of Sherborn, MA; Donald Fernandes of Hudson, NH; Jay Fernandes of Lexington, MA; and David Fernandes of Jamaica Plain, MA. Two sisters: Bella Nogueira and her husband Manuel “Breckles”; and Norma Cunha and her husband Louis all of Fall River. His ten Grandchildren: Lauren, Christopher, Kayla, Katherine, Matthew, Kendra, Michael, Joseph, Jake, and Sophia and many nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Stella Norton and Edward Fernandes, both of Fall River.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main on THURSDAY with a service in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Calling hours WEDNESDAY 4-8pm. The family requests that any donations in lieu of flowers be directed to the Jimmy Fund in memory of Ronald Fernandes.
