Obituary

George E. Waring, 66, of Franklin, died peacefully at his home after a 2 year courageous battle with ALS on Friday, February 12, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Norma J. (Noble) Waring since 1974.

Born in Boston on December 19, 1943, George was the son of the late George and Stella (Sagan) Waring. He was a resident of Franklin since 1978 and formerly resided in Needham.

George graduated from Needham High School in 1961 and attended Northeastern University. He was a general sales manager at Adesa for over 10 years.

George enjoyed traveling and golf but most of all he loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He also enjoyed sports and played many in his younger days.

This past October, his family held the George Waring Golf Classic Benefit to help increase awareness of ALS and to raise funds for communication and mobility equipment. Right up until his death, George continued to amaze those around him with his positive attitude and courageous determination. He challenged everyone to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and to live each day to the fullest.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Erica Waring of Manhattan, NY, Malinda Waring of Bermuda and Kristine Waring.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, February 17 at 11 a.m. at the Franklin Federated Church, 171 Main St. in Franklin. Burial will follow at Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street.
