Obituary

Albert J. Varnerin age 90 of Canton, formerly Dorchester passed away February 12th at the Harrington House in Walpole. Born in Dorchester, he was a member of Boston English High School Class of 1939. He was a decorated Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force during WW II and he was the Owner of A.M. Market in Dorchester for 24 years before retiring in 1978. He later worked for the MBTA for 11 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095 in Canton, the Norwood Elks, the American Legion Post 24 in Canton, the Ponkapoag Civic Assn in Canton, the Boston Retail Grocer’s Assn & the Reserve Officers Assn. Beloved husband of Marion R. (Collins). Father of John L. & his wife Amy of Stow & Leslie A. Reid of Easton and her fiancée William Walsh. Grandfather of Macy Reid & Declan & Ella Varnerin. Son of the late Mary (Mazzuchelli) Varnerin and Leonard Varnerin; Preceded by brother, John A. Varnerin. Uncle of Maureen McKean of Brockton, Ann Barry of Weymouth, Ellen Varnerin of Sandwich & Lisa Varnerin of Quincy. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 5-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Wednesday Morning at 10:30. Interment VA National Cemetery, Bourne Wednesday at 1:15 pm. Decorated Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force during WW II. Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
