Obituary

Ernest A. Tanguay Jr., 81, of Manchester died February 11, 2010 at Hillsborough County Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health.
Born in Manchester on March 22, 1928, he was the son of Ernest A. and Aurore (Gagnon) Tanguay Sr.. He was a lifelong resident of the Pinardville section of Manchester.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Tanguay worked at Cote Brothers Bakery for 18 years. He later worked at Happy Hampton Arcade and the Currier Museum of Art.
He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood and the Catholic War Veterans where he held offices at the national, state and local levels. He graduated from the Ministry Institute at Notre Dame College and was active in ministries at the former St. Edmond Church and the Parish of the Transfiguration.
His lifelong devotions were to his faith, family and country.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes his wife of 60 years, Marie-Claire (Bedard) Tanguay of Manchester; three children, Sr. Suzette Tanguay, PM of Hudson, Judith Chase of Augusta, ME and E.A. “Buddy” Tanguay III of Manchester; a son in law, Paul Litalien and his wife, Arquanette, of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Paul Litalien Jr. and his wife, Cathy, Christopher Litalien and his wife, Donecia, Albert Chase Jr., Dominique Tanguay, Kelly Houde and her husband, Steve, Amy Tanguay and Emily Tanguay; six great grandchildren, Jocelyn Litalien, Drake Chase, Liam Chase, Tristin Litalien, Zackary Houde and Max Houde; four sisters, Lorraine Bellemore of Merrimack, Simone Simard of Londonderry, Vivian Blondeau of Goffstown and Susan Clinton of Manchester; five brothers, Gerard Tanguay, Richard Tanguay and Donald Tanguay all of Manchester, Norman Tanguay of Londonderry and Russell Tanguay of Manchester; a sister in law, Therese Turgeon of Manchester, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Lucille Litalien in 2006, and by a brother, Roger Tanguay in 1930.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, February 15, 2010 at Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Youville streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Augustin Cemetery, So. Beech St., Manchester.
