Obituary

Methuen, MA- Joseph D. Kamal Jr., 82, of Methuen and for the past 12 years, of Haverhill, died suddenly Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born and educated in Methuen on August 25th, 1927, Joseph was the son of Joseph and Selma (Halaby) Kamal. Upon graduation from Searles High School, Joseph served his country in the United States Army. He worked as an office manager at Hanscom Airforce Base for more than 25 years until his retirement.

Joseph was a kind-hearted man who was very close to his family, especially his siblings, children, and grandchildren whom he took great pleasure in spending quality time with. He enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, going to the Rockingham Race Track, and traveling with his faithful, devoted wife. Years ago, he was an avid golfer and looked forward to the family’s annual vacations.
Joseph will be deeply missed and always remembered in the hearts of his wife of 48 years, Catherine C. (Sullivan) Kamal; his two daughters, Christine Sanborn of Effingham, NH; Elizabeth Moro of Methuen; three sons, Joseph Kamal III and his wife Julie of Mesa, AZ; Phillip Kamal of Haverhill and Mitchell Kamal and his wife Christine of Pelham, NH; three siblings; Vivian Runions; Georgette Halaby and Albert Kamal, all of Methuen; as well as 9 beloved grandchildren. Joseph was predeceased by his son-in-law Scott Sanborn.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and Friends may pay their respects TODAY, Friday, February 12th from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint George Orthodox Church of Lawrence. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
