Obituary


Mr. Joseph N. Freitas, affectionately known as “Sickness,” died unexpectedly Monday, February 8 in Morton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary L.(Reynolds) Freitas. He was born 60 years ago in Portugal, the son of the late Antonio
and Julia (Fortuna) DeFreitas. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident since he was 4. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a floor covering journeyman for Ruggieri Bros. of Cranston, R.I. for 11 years. He was previously employed for Local 2168 in Boston for 15 years. Mr. Freitas was a member of the
Italian Naturalization Club and McGrath’s Fish Club. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. He had formerly attended the Immaculate
Conception Church in Taunton.
He leaves:
2 sons: Joseph Freitas, and his wife, Zoraida of Norton
Jeremy Freitas, and his wife Laurie of Taunton
1 daughter: Darby Freitas of Taunton
4 brothers: Antonio DeFreitas of Calif.

3 grandchildren: Noah Freitas, Katya Freitas, and Jeremy Freitas, Jr.
several nieces and nephews
Mr. Freitas was also the brother of the late Jose DeFreitas and Maria Goulet.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, February 12 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on
Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
