WORCESTER – Rose (Der Kazarian) Asadoorian of Paxton, passed away peacefully at UMASS Memorial Hospital on Monday February 8, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Malcolm Oscar Asadoorian II, son of the late Oscar and Virginia Asadoorian of Worcester.
She is survived by her family: her two sons, Dr. Malcolm Oscar Asadoorian III and Ara Asadoorian and his wife Jana; her sisters Alma Der Kazarian and the late Marian Der Kazarian; her two brothers, Charles K. Der Kazarian and Peter Der Kazarian; her sister in-law Pamela Der Kazarian, wife of Peter; her niece, Sherri Der Kazarian; nephew Bryan Der Kazarian and wife Nanci, along with their two children Emilee and Alissa. In addition, she leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout America and Armenia.
Rose was born in Worcester Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Marion (Der Harootunian) Der Kazarian and Charles Der Kazarian of Ashodavan and Kharpert Armenia, respectively.
Rose graduated from the New Woodland Prepatory School and South High School in Worcester, and the Butera School of Art in Boston. Upon graduation from Butera, she worked as a design engineer for the David Clark Corporation of Worcester working on the NASA space exploration program. Since 1988, Rose was a beloved teacher at Wachusett Regional High School and leaves many students, colleagues, and dear friends there.
Rose was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. She was actively involved in several organizations and served as Chairperson of the Women’s Guild. She, along with her husband Malcolm, were Advisors of the Armenian Church Youth Organization of America (A.C.Y.O.A) and were awarded the A.C.Y.O.A. Paregam (Friendship) Award in appreciation for their friendship to, and support of, the Armenian youth in 1992. Rose was also a member and past Matron of the Daughters of Vartan and, a member of the Paxton Women's Club. Overall, she was an ongoing member and supporter of Armenian and non-Armenian related organizations and efforts.
Rose was a loving and devoted individual who always placed the needs of others before her own. She had a passion for art, fashion, travel, gardening, the beach, and spending as much time with her family as possible.
Calling hours are Thursday, February 11 from 3pm to 8pm at Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. The Daughters of Vartan will hold a memorial service at 5:00pm. A Dahngark service will be performed at 7:30pm. The funeral service is 11:00am on Friday, February 12 at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.
