Obituary

Port St. Lucie, FL.-Milton Ferreira age 76 years died February 4th at the Saint Lucie Medical Center with his loved ones with him. Milton was the brother of Hilda Rosa of Port St. Lucie, FL. and the late Ernest, Gilbert, Manuel, Antone, Edward,John Ferreira,Mary Baptiste. He is also survived by 17 Godchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ferreira was the son of the late John V. and Margaret (Costa) Ferreira. He was born in New Bedford MA. and lived here and Port St. Lucie, Fl. area. Milton was the former owner of Seaboard Express Inc. and Milton’s Distribution. Were he founded and distributed Sarges Beer before his retirement. Milton He was the Founding father of the Prince Henry Society, member of the Portuguese American War Vets, Founder and former director of the Portuguese American Band; Milton was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Solo Clarinetist with 323rd Army Band based at Fort Sam Houston; San Antonio, Texas. Milton was Elected President of Local 214, American Federation of Musicians (A.F. of M.) he was part of the Delegation at the National Convention in Seattle Washington and Pittsburgh, PA. Served as Chairman of the New Bedford Concert Series, Served as Committee Member to promote the purchase of our Band Shell by the City of New Bedford. Former partner of the Skipper Motor Inn, Former Stockholder & Board of Directors member of Luzo Bank & Trust. Former member National Association of Purchasing Management Inc., National Association of Accountants Office Managers Association. Attended Bryant Jr. College were he study Business Management, Advance Accounting, Methods and Systems, he attended Providence College were he studied Advance Computer Programming, he was a member of Camber of Commerce of the United States as well as the New Bedford Camber of Commerce. President a& Treasure of York Refrigerated Service, Inc.-Transportation and President & Treasure of Vic-Mar, Inc. –Packaging Consultants, Served as Chairman of the Committee which presented a Gold Life Membership to Charles Lewin, Publisher of the Standard Times, Served as Chairman of the Adolph “Doc” Coimbra Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Ferreira’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Saturday February 13th, at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth, at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 P.M. -- 8 P.M.
