Obituary

Augustine “Augie” Errante, of Lebanon, Maine, formerly of Dedham and Westwood, passed away on February 5, 2010. He was 84 years old. Born in Winchester, Augie entered the United States Navy following high school. He served during World War II from 1943 to 1946. After the war, Augie earned his barber's license and worked for a short time as a barber. He went on to work as a bookbinder at Circle Bindery, Bay State Bindery, and R&S Printing in Dorchester. Augie also earned his certification at Mass. Radio and Telegraph and made house calls, repairing televisions in customers' homes for many years.

Augie was a member of the Knights of Columbus Coucil 120 in Jamaica Plain and a life member of the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Association.

Augie was the dear and devoted husband of Dorothy Ferrick and the late Cecelia (Dolabany). Loving father of Karen Wallace and her husband James of FL, Ruthann Higgins and her husband Arthur of Walpole, and Paul Errante and his wife Kathleen of Hudson. Cherished Grandfather, “Jiddo,” of Shawna Whitford, Lindsay Whitaker, Jacqueline, Kaitlin, Matthew and Celia Errante, and Sarah and Amanda Higgins. Great grandfather of Emma Whitaker and Nadia Whitford. Dear brother of Jean Pelton of NC, Benjamin Errante of FL, Jack Errante of NC, and the late Rosalie Wigman. He is also survived by 5 step-children, 14 step-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

Augie's Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa of Avila Church Thursday February 11, 2010.
