Obituary

Kevin Michael Iles, “Dude”, “Dudey”, age 54 of Walpole and formerly of Natick and Dorchester, died peacefully ,February 6 at home from a valiant battle with cancer. He was the husband of Karen Griffey for the past 20 years.
Born in Boston, November 4, 1955, the son of the late William and Rita (Carr) Iles, Mr. Iles was raised in Dorchester, attending St. Gregory’s School, and was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School, class of 1973. He also was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1977 with a B.S. in Accounting.
Kevin worked in a variety of positions over the past 30 years as accountant and financial operations director at the Unfinished Furniture House, Boston Phoenix, Prism Rehab Group, Frontier Group, Concentra Managed Care and most recently as Area Director of Accounting and Analysis for Sunrise Senior Living, Inc. He was frequently asked to provide recommendations for former employees, and became fast friends with many.
A longtime golfer, he enjoyed outings with his numerous boyhood friends. He played hockey as a high school student, knocking a few teeth out in the process. He loved to cook, and regaled his sisters-in-law and their families over many gourmet meals, including libations, with tales of escapades with “the boys”.
Kevin was incredibly generous with his time, expertise, and money, volunteering on the condo association board of trustees, assisting relatives with startups, and engendered great affection and love in everyone he encountered.
Kevin always maintained a lovely sense of humor, even in the worst stages of his illness. He displayed a great tolerance and patience with others when they made mistakes, a great model of acceptance and love.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Katharine Iles 16, and Caroline Iles 13 of Walpole.
He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Iles of CA and Jack Iles and his wife Sally of Milton and his sister Karen Iles Julian of Fla.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Susan Griffey and her husband John Oetting and son CB Brechin, his late brother–in-law Stephen Griffey and his wife Katharine Griffey, and sons Thomas and Christopher, sister-in-law Robin Griffey and son Quinn, sister-in-law Elizabeth Griffey and daughter Andrea, sister-in-law Sara Griffey and son Greyson and brother-in-law David Griffey.
He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and their families, especially his niece Aleisa and her husband Patrick Dunn and daughter Maya of Shenzhen, China.
His memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday February 12 in Blessed Sacrament Church Walpole at 10:00 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been established at the Rockland Federal Credit Union, 657 Main St., Walpole, Ma 02081 in the names of Katharine and Caroline Iles.
