“Maija’s Psalm”

Written in Maija’s Journal at Holden Hills Nursing Home
August 2005

In the evening as I go to bed I whisper, “Jesus, Jesus,” so many times that I can’t think of anything else. Wonderful name, Jesus, I slept, I awoke, I whisper the name of Jesus. He is always with me. Who else would I be with? His presence brings a wonderful peace. Soon I can go where there is a big praise choir singing a new song to Jesus Christ our Lord, who is also my savior. I would like to tell everyone this wonderful truth but I see there aren’t many who know this wonderful Jesus name where is our salvation. He lives, that is why I can live, even though I am dead.

“Maija’s Best Moments”

My life’s best moments since finding my salvation, were when I married, and moved to Tampere to live with Arne. Then born to us was sweet baby Arja Hannela, the apple of our eye. Moving to America, there were many times we missed our homeland. Time and again we visited our roots, which were left behind in Finland. It appeared to us that our precious Arja’s roots are still there. Many times she has packed her bags and gone to visit her birthplace.

We were also blessed with a second sweet girl, Carol. She was born while we lived in Fitchburg. She was just as precious as Arja and both continued to be a great joy. I wait for them to visit often in this nursing home; in between I still have time to miss them. I understand they have family they must take care of.

Now there is just the wait, until I move to the land where there are no more shadows, illness, and loneliness. My travel ticket is in my heart to my wonderful legacy, which Jesus has bought with his own blood and gifted to me by his grace. I have great joy in my heart because Arja and Carol’s whole family have given their hearts to Jesus. When we all finally reach our destination we will see Jesus face to face.
