Nicholas J. Kondrats,56 of Santa Barbara,CA.,formerly of Dudley passed away Wednesday,January 13, 2010 in Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara after an illness.
He leaves his step-mother,Dr. Austra Kondrats of St. Petersburg,FLA., his sister Illona wife of Phil Sullivan,a niece Angela, and a nephew, Jeff of Eatonville,GA
Nick was born in Albany, New York on Sept. 20,1953 and lived with his family in Nassau, New York.His father was Dr. Boris Klasons, a prominent psychiatrist who fled from Latvia with his wife and daughter in 1947, to escape communism. In 1956, Dr. Klasons was tragically shot and killed by a paranoid patient who ironically believed the Dr. to be a communist.Nick's mother Velta died from cancer 7 years later.
At age 10, Nick was adopted by his aunt Dr. Austra Kondrats.They moved to Dudley in 1966 where Nick attended Dudley Jr. High School. Dr. Kondrats practiced Dentistry for many years in Webster with the late Dr. Emile N. DuPont.
Nick graduated from Bartlett High School in 1971. He then attended NorthEastern University before moving to Santa Barbara.He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara as a chemistry major.
He was co owner of Santa Barbara Chemical Corp. for 30 years and TEKMAR Ltd. for 16 years.
Nick loved his family, friends, travelling and was a proud member of Red Sox Nation.
Services were private in Santa Barbara.
