EAST TAUNTON – Lorraine Ann (Frates) Newhall, a longtime E. Taunton resident, died at Morton Hospital on February 4, 2010.
She was 74.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph “Jumbo” and Cecile (Gaouette) Frates.
Educated in Taunton schools, she later worked for the former Ansonia Mills, and was subsequently employed by the former Codex Co. of Mansfield, where she worked for many years.
She retired many years ago.
A former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3994, Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Newhall did volunteer work for the American Heart Association for many years.
She leaves four sons, Francis and James Medeiros, Steven Medeiros and his wife Dina, and Wayne Medeiros, all of E. Taunton; three daughters, Lori Ann Medeiros and Mary Ellen Medeiros, both of ME, and Kelly Ann Kimball of E. Taunton; a brother, Joseph Frates and his wife Carol of Taunton; three sisters, Brenda Lema, Patti O’ Brien, and Jacqueline Oliveira, all of E. Taunton; an uncle, Norman Gaouette of Taunton, an aunt, Margaret Parisi of Chicago; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Robert Frates.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Tuesday Feb. 9th at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb 8th from 4 to 7 p.m.
