TEWKSBURY: Frances M. (Giles) O’Rourke, age 87, a resident of Tewksbury for over 60 years, died February 2, 2010 in Lenox, MA.
For 42 years, she was the wife of Terence B. O’Rourke who died April 25, 1990.
Born in Haverhill on September 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ellen (Jones) Giles. Mrs. O’Rourke was raised in Haverhill and attended local schools.
In 1942, she moved to Tewksbury, where she was a lifelong communicant of Saint William’s Church. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed as the Housekeeping department head at Tewksbury State Hospital where she worked for 38 years.
Mrs. O’Rourke devoted her life to caring for her husband, daughter, son-in-law and only grandchild.. She is survived by her daughter Bridget O’Rourke Hubbard and her husband Mark of Lenox; her grandson Matthew O. Hubbard, M.D. of Cleveland, OH; her sister Evelyn Swapp of Haverhill; and sisters-in-law, Mary Beattie of Tewksbury and Margaret Saunders of West Roxbury; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. O’Rourke is also survived by Loretta O’Rourke of Nashua, NH, wife of her late brother-in-law, James E. O’Rourke.
Mrs. O’Rourke was the sister of the late Geraldine Langton and Mary Chevalier, both of Haverhill.
Calling hours: Tuesday, February 9, from 10-11a.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 at Saint William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
