Obituary

Melinda A. Kella of Medford died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was 95. Melinda was one of ten daughters born to the late Enrico and Emelia (Repucci) Marotta. She was raised in East Boston and later settled in Medford after her marriage to the late William V. Kella.

As a stitcher, she worked in the local garment industry before retiring. Melinda was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing at home. In her leisure time she enjoyed socializing at the Medford Senior Citizen’s Club, where she was a longtime member. She could often be found dancing or serving coffee, tea and refreshments to the other club members. While at home, she enjoyed the companionship of her beloved poodle “Tara”, and later her son John’s cocker spaniel “Brandy”.

She was a devoted mother to John W. Kella and his wife Elizabeth “Betty” of Medford and Stephen H. Kella of Orlando, FL. Melinda is survived by sisters Esther Bonnavita of Medford, Mary Murgida of Ipswich, Edith Sclafani of Middleton, Elena D'Orlando of Saugus, Norma Collura and the late Gilda DiChiara, Angelina Lawrence, Yolanda Gahan and Lucy Grillo. Also survived my many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street MEDFORD, on Monday, February 8 at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, February 7th, 4 – 8.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
