Walter “Sonny” Forance, 80, of Hudson and Eastham, died on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Rose (Buscemi) Forance of Hudson.
Born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Walter and Lorraine (Benway) Forance, Sonny attended local school and was a life long resident of Hudson. He served in the Marine Corps from 1948 to 1949. He owned and operated Forance Movers Co. in Hudson for many years until the company was acquired by Skinner Antiques of Bolton and Marlboro. He remained with Skinner Antiques as its transportation manager for many years until he retired. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson and former member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks and Hudson Rotary Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Forance and his wife Elizabeth of Hyannis, Joan Krongard and her husband Keith of Hudson and Marianne Freeman of Dennisport. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Forance of Hyannis, David and Sarah Krongard of Hudson, Leah McNally and her husband Seth of Clinton, Lindsey Freeman of Lancaster, Jaime Freeman of Dennisport and Jon Freeman of San Diego, CA along with his nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Lorraine White, and Ronald and David Forance.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 6th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb.5th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
