Obituary

Donald "Jocko" Fallon, age 69, of Mystic, Ct , was called to The Lord on Wednesday morning February 3, 2010 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

A devoted husband, father and papa, he was born on September 26, 1940 in Bronx, N.Y. He was raised in the great city of New York and was a graduate of De Witt Clinton High. Upon graduating, he entered a 25 year career in The United States Navy, a career of which he was extremely proud. Once retired from the Navy, Jocko found his true passion of counseling those in need at The Hartford Dispensary in New London, CT.

On May 6, 1967, he married the love of his life and neighborhood sweetheart, Susan Margaret McClory. Together they endured 2 tours of the Vietnam War and enjoyed relocating along the South Eastern Connecticut Coastline; eventually settling in the Mystic area where they raised two children, the late Donald E. "Woody" Fallon who died in 2008 and Kimberly A. Lyon of Groton.

Jocko's abounding love of his life was apparent to all who knew and loved him. His sense of humor was and is a continuing source of joyful conversation among his family and many friends. Jocko was a proud Republican, an avid New York Giants fan and he was also a very good friend of Bill W. But his single greatest joy came from being Papa to his three beautiful granddaughters Devin, Avery and Maerin Lyon.

After losing his 30 year companion, he found love, friendship and compassion in Linda Inglis. They were married on July 28, 2004. She survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son in law Kimberly and Matthew Lyon and their three previously mentioned children; his brother James Fallon and family of Long Island; his sisters in law, Linda Shrank, Agnes Helewicki, and Christa McClory, all of New York; his two step daughters, Jaime Sans and her son Michael of Hampton, Ct., Jennifer and Joseph LaPre and their son Joe Joe of Coventry, Ct.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Tuesday at 1pm. Burial with presentation of military honors will follow.

Jocko’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity close to his heart, Navy & Marine Corps. Relief Society, 875 N. Randolph St., Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203-1977.
