Rosa Torres, 50, was granted her angel wings on February 2, 2010 with her family by her side in her home in Revere, Massachusetts. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Rosa had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life.
Rosa was born on August 27, 1959 in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. Rosa’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gently smile and generosity brought so much joy to her family and friends.
Although she was delicate and weak at the end, she gave her family and friends all such courage and hope and reminded them of the preciousness of life. She loved to laugh, tell stories, be with her husband and family, bake cakes, and created beautiful and dynamic decorations for everyone in her community, just to see people happy. Her true gift in life was that she brought joy, faith and happiness to so many people. She could spend hours cuddling close to those she loved so much, or hours just being with someone who needed her to listen. To the world she may be just one person, but to many, Rosa was the world. Her compassion, bravery and keeping her word to everyone was extraordinary.
Rosa is survived by her loving mother, Rosa Delgado; by her loving husband and father to her children, Julio Mendez ; her sisters and brothers; Vicky, Soraida, Daniel, Cheo and Benjamin; 16 nieces and nephews; and 27 grandchildren or as she would say, “Tia Abuela”.

Funeral from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons – Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St. REVERE on Friday, Feb. 5 at 11:30 am. Followed by service in the funeral home at 12:30 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Thurs. 4-8 pm. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
