Obituary

MARLBOROUGH: Catherine M. “Kay” (Rokes) Weigold, 85, died peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Marlborough Hills Health Care Center following a long illness.
She was born in St. Albans, Vermont on October 8, 1924 the daughter of the late Ralph H. Rokes and Ida Mae (Jones) Rokes.
Kay is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Beverly A. Sheehan of Framingham. She was the sister-in-law of June Rokes Tarkington of Limerick, ME and Edna Rokes of Long Island, NY. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Marion Sheehan, Horace Rokes, Loren Rokes, Marquita McGilvray, Ronald Rokes, Sr., and Betty Jane Sheehan. She was the wife of the late John J. Corkery who died in 1973 and wife of the late George A. Weigold who died in 2005.
Kay spent her formative years in St. Albans, Vermont and at the age of 16 moved with her family to Medfield where she graduated from Medfield High School. She also resided in Allston for 15 years and for over 50 years in Framingham. Kay had a long and successful career as a payroll manager beginning at Nabisco in Cambridge for 28 years and retired after 10 years as the payroll manager for LFE Corporation/Mark IV of Clinton. For over 15 years, she could be found waitressing on the weekends at Mel’s Restaurant in Cochituate. She enjoyed reading, traveling and taking road trips. She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter and was also a surrogate mother to many other children. She was a nurturing and loving person and was devoted to her entire family. She will be remembered for her kindness and the happiness that she brought to those who knew her.
Her funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Corkery family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial donations in Kay’s memory be sent to Care Alternatives Hospice, Cream Catchers Fund, 181 Cedar Hill Road, Marlborough, MA 01752 and would be greatly appreciated.
