Obituary

Newport– Richard (Dick) D. Walega, 63, died on January 18, 2010 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on January 6, 1947 the son of John Walega Sr. and Ethel (Harrington) Walega.  Dick grew up in Manchester and lived his whole life in New Hampshire.
Dick was very patriotic to his country.  He served in the U.S. Navy and he always believed and trusted in U.S. politics.
He had been employed as a watchman for the Woodstock Inn, Vermont.  He was also a landlord in Newport, NH. 
Dick was a member of several charitable organizations including; NH Public Television, NH Public Radio, United Way, Appalachian Mountain Trail Club, Audubon Society, Sierra Club, and Planned Parenthood.
Family members, who he dearly loved, include; Joanne Walega, his spouse for life, one son Daniel Walega of Nogales AZ., one daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Karen) Kachel of Georgetown MA., two grandchildren, four brothers, John Walega Jr., Robert Walega, William Walega, Donald Walega, one sister, Nancy Pratt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES:A memorial reception will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM at the J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St..
