In Taunton, January 31, 2010 Olivia M. Tavares, age 80, died after a brief illness in Morton Hospital while surrounded by her family. Olivia was the loving wife of her late husband George Tavares. She was born in New Bedford to her late parents Joseph & Deolinda Martin. Olivia has lived the last thirteen years in Raynham and is formerly of New Bedford. She was employed as a seamstress. Olivia loved being with her family and spending time with her friends. She is survived by her son Dennis Tavares and his wife Dianna of Bridgewater. Her grandchildren Angela Tavares of Avon and Lauren Tavares-Mulhern of Bridgewater and her two great grandchildren Abigail & James. Olivia also leaves her brother Manuel Martin of Wayland, MA. and the late John, Ernest, Arthur and Albert Martin. Funeral home visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd from 9:30-10:30am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton at 11am. Interment in Rural Cemetery in New Bedford. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made in Olivia’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA. 02445-7226.
