Ludowici—Jessie Sikes Wells, 85, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, in the Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
She was born in Evans County and had lived in Liberty & Long Counties all of her life. She was a Homemaker, a great cook and seamstress, and her door was always open. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ludowici, a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Wells, her children, Cleon Wells, Katrina Hart, Harrison “Hambone” Wells, Doreen Duke and Leslie Wells and her grandchildren, Casey Horne, Kathleen Howard, Dustin Wells and Kayla Wells.
Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon McGowan and Don Smith, Linda Horne and Jimmy, Amy Howard and Tommy, and Gary Duke all of Ludowici; one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Wells and Shavonne of Ludowici; a brother, Robert Sikes of Folkston, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 1, 2010, beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M.Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ludowici, with Rev. Michael Carden and Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.
Burial will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Gum Branch.
Active Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Daniel Ginn, Justin Hall, Tommy Freeman, Josh Wells, Kendall Haymons, Jordan Richardson, Travis Futch, and Earl Freeman, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the Choir of Calvary Baptist Church.
