Evelyn Anderson, 99
Worcester-Evelyn M. Anderson, 99, of 70 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, died Saturday, January 30, 2010. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hilma (Carlson) Rylander, who emigrated from Sweden. She relocated to Worcester with her family at age 3, living there and in Auburn and West Boylston the rest of her life. Her husband of 53 years, Henry W. Anderson, predeceased her in 2000, as did two brothers, Thor and Edgar, in 1982 and 2002. She leaves two sons, Roger and Philip of Brimfield and Boylston, MA, their spouses, five grandchildren and two granddaughters-in-law.

A graduate of North High School, she attended Becker Business College and later worked in various clerical positions with Morgan Construction, Norton's, Memorial Hospital, and Paul Revere Life. She was a dental assistant to the late Dr. Lindale Davies. She also worked with the American Red Cross after World War II, counseling disabled returning veterans. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a former long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Mary Elizabeth circle; more recently attending services at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Evelyn enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, and cooking. She was a cheerful, positive person, devoted to her family and friends, keeping them in her thoughts even after her health declined.

The funeral service will be held at the Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Friday, February 5, at 2:00 p.m. A calling hour will be held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown MA 02472.
