Obituary

Whitman – Phyllis E. (Tirrell) Winnett, 91, of Whitman died January 22 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Winnett. She is survived by her sister Barbara A. Earwood of Texas. She is pre-deceased by three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Winnett was born in Manchester, NH and grew up in Weymouth, MA. She was a graduate of Weymouth High School and was a Whitman resident for over 60 years.

During her years in Weymouth she was a teacher in the family kindergarten and a camp counselor at the Camp Shuinala in Bryantville, MA operated by her parents Irving J. and Vernice C. Tirrell. In her later years, she was a nanny for many local families.

She joins her husband and her son the late Richard A. LaPlante and 2 great-grandchildren in Heaven, and awaits the reunion of her remaining children, Darlene C. Carpenter. Lianne E. Dyck, and Edward I. Winnett along with their families. She is also survived by her late son’s daughter and her family and her husband’s children Joanne F. Norek, Phyllis E. Paiva and David E. Winnett along with their families, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday February 6 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a service at 11:30 AM in the 1st Congregational Church of Hanover, 515 Hanover Street, Hanover. Burial will take place following the service in the Hanover Center Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to St. Anthony Hospice, 1391 Speer Blvd., Suite 600, Denver, CO 80204
