Obituary

SALEM - Joan C. (Bouchard) Jordan, late of Gloucester, MA Salem, MA and Kennebunkport, Maine, died at the Lafayette Convalescent Home, Marblehead on January 25, 2010 following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Lucille (Houle) Bouchard, formerly of Salem, Massachusetts. She is survived by her sons, Neil R. Jordan, Jr., of Portland, Maine and Dana P. Jordan, of Gloucester, MA and West Palm Beach, Florida and a granddaughter, Colleen E. Jordan, of Lilburn, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Her son, Craig S. Jordan, of Norcross, Georgia, predeceased her in 2007. She is also survived by her siblings, Claire (Tanch) Bailey of Salem, MA, Aline Jalbert of Fort Worth, Texas, Jean A. Bouchard, of Sweden, Maine, Kenneth E. Bouchard, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a devoted friend, John C. Camm, of Hamilton.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Salem and attended Salem Schools. For almost forty years prior to her death, she was employed as a paralegal in the law office of Attorney Sumner Low Raymond, of Salem, MA. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a paralegal in the law office of her son, Dana P. Jordan. She was also a licensed real estate broker, having sold property on the North Shore for thirty years under the business name of Stuart Realty.

Mrs. Jordan was a former director of the Hamilton-Wenham Community Service, Inc., former director of the Salem Young Men's Christian Association, former director and secretary of the Brookhouse Home for Aged Women in Salem and treasurer of the Salvation Army Hamilton-Wenham Service Unit for many years, an active member of the Seacoast Garden Club of Kennebunkport, MA, the Ogunquit Women's Club of Ogunquit, ME and the International Women's Club of New England.

She actively enjoyed sailing, skiing, hiking and international travel.

A funeral service will be held at the Ascension Memorial Church of Ipswich, MA (31 County Road) on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., officiated by the Reverend Bradford Clark. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be private and will take place in the JORDAN family lot at the Hamilton Cemetery on Bay Road, in South Hamilton, MA. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral service and reception immediately following at the home of Claire Williams, 11 Patton Drive, So.
