Obituary

METHUEN – Imelda Patricia Keogh 83 passed away at her home in Methuen Monday January 25, 2010 after an extended illness.

Imelda was born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Clinton Patrick and Mary Agnes (Kennedy) Keraghan. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar and High School. She also graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Lowell, MA in 1947 and became a registered nurse and was also a nurse cadet with the Army Nurse Corp. at St. John’s Hospital. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Clover Hill Hospital in Methuen, MA for eight years and for 33 years at Holy Family Hospital also in Methuen before retiring in 1988.

In her retirement Imelda became a connoisseur of fine dining, though ironically she never visited her own kitchen. She was a parishioner at Mount Carmel Parish prior to its closing and at St. Monica’s Parish in Methuen, MA.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved of 48 years Charles J. Keogh who died on May 26, 1995. She is survived by her daughter Christine and husband Russell Baril of Methuen with whom she resided.
Two sons, Robert Keogh of Dedham, MA and Charles C. Keogh and his wife Paula (Parotta) of Cape Elizabeth, ME.
Two grandsons Raymond Baril and his wife Donna (Reardon) of Methuen and Russell Baril of Methuen.
Granddaughter Emma of Cape Elizabeth, ME
Great-grandchildren Jacoby and Sophia.
Sisters Mary English, wife of the late Daniel F. English of Methuen, Virginia Leyland and her husband Robert of North Andover, MA.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and also leaves a loyal and devoted friend Frank Yelle.
She was pre-deceased by sisters Agnes M. Blumel, Grace E. Keraghan, Dr. Nora T. Harrison, Claire M. Broadhead and Florence A. Keraghan.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorials can be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice 360 Merrimack Street BLDG 9 Lawrence, MA 01843. At the request of the family there are no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday at 10:30a.m. at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen. Burial will take place at a later date at the families convenience.
