TEWKSBURY, MA - Louise Augusta (Laupp)(Lawson) Johnson, age 91, matriarch of the Sickles, Lawson, Johnson, and Ohm families, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, at the Tewksbury home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family, following a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Johnson, and previously, the late Thomas Lawson.
She was born June 26, 1918, in Mondovi, Washington, a daughter of the late Ernest and Louise (Schwartz) Laupp. She was raised on the family farm near Mondovi, and attended Bald Ridge Grade School and North Central High School. She lived in Davenport, WA, the greater part of her life, and had wintered in Tewksbury for the past 26 years, moving to Tewksbury three years ago.
She will be remembered by her friends and family for her love of gardening, her beautiful flowers, her needlework, especially her crocheting skills, her independence and self sufficiency by canning fruits and vegetables, and her talent for wine making.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine Marie (Lawson) Sickles and her husband William "Bill" Sickles, with whom she was residing, Ellen Ohm of Nevada, Iowa; a son Alvin Johnson of Davenport, WA; six grandchildren, Thomas Sickles and his wife Allison of Lowell, MA, Lee Sickles and his wife Deborah of Groton, MA, Christine Freitas of Dracut, MA, Ernest Lawson, IV, of Davenport, Daniel Lawson of Davenport, and Lee Ohm of Nevada, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Leanne, Brandon, Jeremy, Nathan, Jacob, and Andrew Lee; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Ernest Lawson, and siblings, Ernest Laupp Jr., Katherine Laupp, Gertrude McClure, and her husband, the late Mervyn McClure.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m at the Funeral Home. A Prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Committal services will be held in Mondovi Cemetery, Davenport, Washington. Kindly omit flowers.
