Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park , Canton.Visiting Hours Friday 3-8 pm. Obituary
Mr. Cardoza died Tuesday evening at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. Born and educated in Newport, RI., son of the late George L. and Helena (Abbott) Cardoza, Sr. Brockton resident since 1971 previously lived in Hyde Park. Following high school graduation he served in the US Navy during WW II. During the Korean War he served in the Army and received the Purple Heart. He was a retired sales manager of Rugg Manufacturing of Greenfield, MA. Member of the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials. He refereed local high school and college volleyball games and he also coached Brockton Junior Olympics volleyball. He was also a member of the JM Curley Recreation Center in So. Boston and the Newport Six.He was an avid sports fan and followed many local teams.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Joan H. (Smiegal) Cardoza, a son George A. Cardoza and his wife Sylvia of Rochester, MI. two granddaughters Amanda M. and Chloe N., a sister Dorothy Fabris and her husband John of Rochester, NY. , a brother in law Paul and a sister in law Phyllis Smiegal of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.
