Obituary

WEBSTER – John M. Vrabel, 87, of Emil Street, died Monday, January 26, after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mary C. (Egan) Vrabel; a son, Judge Paul M. Vrabel and his wife Mary E. of Pittsfield; a daughter-in-law, Louise M. Vrabel of Southbridge; 5 grandchildren, Meghan, Lindsay, Matthew, Timothy and Kathleen; a brother, Edward Vrabel of Spring, TX; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son Mark E. Vrabel in 2005 and by 5 brothers and a sister.

He was born in Dudley and raised in Thompson, a son of Martin and Anna (Tomasec) Vrabel. He lived in Webster for many years. He graduated from the trade school in Putnam, CT.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Vrabel was a carpenter for Local Union #107. He was a foreman at F. W. Madigan Company, Inc., in Worcester for many years before retiring in 1984.

The funeral will be held Friday, January 29, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in
Saint Anthony’s Cemetery. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Friday, January 29, in the funeral home.
