Obituary

Fairhaven – Joseph Turner, 86, of Acushnet died January 24, 2010 at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Muriel A. (Perry) Turner.

Mr. Turner was born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Carter) Turner, and resided in New Bedford, Connecticut and Acushnet where he spent most of his life. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He was employed by Rogers Corp. of S. Windham, CT for 18 years and later by the Acushnet Process Rubber Division for 23 years. He was a life member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was an avid golfer and he loved woodworking and refinishing furniture.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son: Douglas J. Turner and his wife Carol of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren: Scott D. Turner and his wife Mylissa and Michael J. Turner and his wife Chantel; 3 great-granddaughters: Molly, Lindsay and Vianne Turner; and several nieces & nephews.

He was brother of the late Ethel Leistritz, Doris Manchester, William Turner and John Turner.

Visiting hours on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 5:00-8:00 P.M.

Funeral from the funeral home Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 169 Belleville Road, New Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Suite 301, Brockton, MA 02401 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.

Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
